Pooya Khorramyar is a music producer and sound engineer working under the pseudonym of HAIRYDREAMS. He is studying Ph.D. in music education at the University of Calgary, and his research focuses on an innovative design for a universal autodidactic platform for music production enthusiasts.

For Pooya, music-making started in the dark yet lively undergrounds of Tehran. Writing music, singing and performing guitar in a Persian punk band (Cheshmesevom) introduced him to the world of do-it-yourself music production. But, experiencing challenges such as finding up-to-date educational materials in his first language and educational institutions insufficiency led him to pay special attention to the education of do-it-yourself music production.
 
When he moved to Malaysia in 2010 to start his academic education in music, he gradually realized that many do-it-yourself music production autodidacts in Malaysia, who do not have an adequate understanding of English, have almost the same challenges. Therefore, he mainly focused on the music production and publishing issues that do-it-yourself music producers and independent artists constantly need to address. Also, besides working as a music producer, Pooya started to design his music production syllabuses and taught do-it-yourself music production to several students in his home recording studio.

HAIRYDREAMS music can be thought of as a one-man show since all stages of production are entirely managed by Pooya under the HAIRYDREAMS RECORDS label name.
